Catherine's Bio

catherine Catherine Ellen has been playing with fabric and hats since she was at High School but worked in the legal industry for about 20 years before she realised that her hobby could turn into her livelihood.

Catherine was an integral part of the wardrobe team at the recent Santa's Kingdom production at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. She achieved a commendation certificate at the Royal Melbourne Show last year for millinery. Catherine has done work experience with the Australian Ballet Company.

Catherine is working on a fantasy Egyptian Goddess costume with inspiration from Mariano Fortuny's hand-pleated gowns of the early 20th century using traditional Shibori methods. She also plans to construct three Thai dancers costumes with student colleague Lih-Qun Wong.

Catherine's role in this project is Web Site Co-ordinator working closely with all members of the team in order to promote the students' work and events in a professional manner. Catherine is utilising her previous experience as a secretarial supervisor and workplace trainer to mentor and support the team.
